Important Updates

The Big Picture

Before we jump into the updated roadmap and other news, let’s take a moment to look at the bigger picture and get some context. At the end of May, Diego Vidaurre (Zeelex), our CEO, shared an open letter to the community. Said letter laid out our plans for the game and the company (short, mid, and long-term). You can read it in its entirety here: https://thebeacon.super.site/

Here’s a summary:

It's important to realize that what you've been playing up until recently is only a Prototype/Demo version of our game - just a small glimpse of what's to come.

This industry is still young but bursting with potential, which makes this all very exciting. Our main focus has been the big picture, with the first major milestone being the Alpha launch of The Beacon in Q1 2024. Our studio aspirations extend well beyond The Beacon. We plan to expand The Beacon’s universe, which will involve developing more games, and deliver seasonal content and expansions. Additionally, we are aiming to push interoperability to new frontiers. While expanding The Beacon’s universe may include elements of interoperability, it's essential to understand they are two distinct objectives. In other words, our plans involve not just a larger Beacon universe but also novel and innovative strides in the realm of web3 interoperability.

To achieve our goals, we made some short-term changes. We phased out the Lux shard system, but rest assured, we took all participants into account. We also altered the content and item drop cadence.

Remember the Harvester Event that took place the week following the changes? It introduced an item-burning mechanic, and since then, we've been focusing heavily on reducing item supply.

Additionally, we're underway with a pioneering strategy that harmonizes our community, our vision, and our very assets. This isn't just some 'initiative' - it's the heart and soul of web3 gaming. Breaking new ground, reshaping what gaming can be, and having our community right there with us at every twist and turn. That's not just innovation, it's a beacon blazing the path ahead in the gaming world.
